A few years back I was the featured artist at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Trade Show, it was a great experience.  This is the painting I did for that event,  at which I signed prints of it as a keepsake to attendees. First I did a study that showed the basic idea, and we talked about changes.   They really wanted the tall cactus to show it was Arizona, so although I put them into the main painting, I changed the study eventually and it is shown below.

If you look through my artwork and find something you love that is sold, you can commission a similar painting, and choose the size.  This is one that I recently finished, and in fact they also chose the background color, red.  I do love a red background with black and white animals.

This painting is 36x36, and you can see other similar calf paintings I have done if you look through my website.  This painting, done in my studio in El Cajon (San Diego County) California, was shipped to the new owners in Oklahoma, who love it!  They said :

I love the baldy face, and the black with the golden grasses background, but I especially love to show the interactions between the cows and this one certainly tells a story.  I'm kicking around a few different titles for this piece, but since everyone doesn't see the same thing when they view a painting I don't think I want the title to say too much, giving it some thought.  If you have a great suggestion let me know.
