The reference for this painting was, I believe, one of the last photos taken of Onyx. It was commissioned by a good friend of her owner, as a gift. What a special, thoughtful gift indeed.
The interesting thing about the piece is it's probably the only one I've ever painted with the eyes closed. I had asked about that and received this reply:" The essence of the picture is the peace she is showing with her eyes closed I think. " This was her wonderful personality...just a gentle, quiet soul. She was very special. One of a kind. She was a Cornish Rex."
